I’m sure you’ve experienced the same. You open up your dishwasher post cycle and reach in for a wine glass but when your pull it out, it is smeary or has a stray baked bean attached to it. Well, there are a few simple tips you can follow to ensure that your tableware comes out sparkling every time. Try not to put overly dirty items in your dishwasher Yes, your expensive dishwasher tablets may say that they’re able to break up any stray bits of food, but debris can end up inside the mechanisms of you device and even if they do not, a quick rinse of especially dirty items can do great things for the overall cleanliness of your tableware post wash. Space items out carefully This will allow water to circulate efficiently through your tableware and machine and will aid the rinse part of your wash cycle. If you own an integrated dishwasher you should get on your knees and have a proper look to ensure any spinning parts do not come into contact with your items. Take note of your water hardness Dishwashers in areas with harder water will need to be topped up with more dishwashers salt. Hard water contains higher level of calcium and magnesium which can make glass items look cloudy. Keeping scale level down will help to keep your dishwasher running more smoothly (and for longer!), resulting in cleaner dining utensils. Clean the interior of your dishwasher regularly It goes without saying that dirty, smelly dishwashers will produce dirty and smelly results. Special dishwasher cleaners which help to eliminate lime scale and other nasties are available for use when the machine is empty and should be used at least once a month.
